THE RETURN OF NATIVE PEOPLE TO THEIR HOSTING DUTIES

The Beacon to the Ancestors Foundation was created to advance the indigenous knowledge and ceremonial duties of the ancient Aboriginal cultures of the Toronto territory, namely the Hotinonshon:ni [Iroquois] and Anishnabec [Ojibway] peoples.

The Foundation through the vision of its Founder, Dr. William Woodworth Raweno:kwas, is planning a series of cultural/psycho/spiritual events and exhibitions Toronto: Beacon to the Ancestors- The Return of the Native Peoples to Their Traditional Hosting Duties.

Drawing on the wisdom and values of traditional indigenous knowledge, the focus of this effort is reconciliation and healing between peoples, with the ancestors, and with the created world itself.

A central concept in Hotininshon:ni culture is the custom of "condolences" - physical and spiritual comfort offered by members of one clan to travelers from another, who are often lonely and dispirited because they are far from home.
